Finally Getting It Restored
The car sat in our garage for 3 years before we decided it wasn't getting any closer to being restored. I had originally wanted to do most if not all the work myself. After 3 years and really only removing the engine and transmission and tinkering a little bit we realized this was never going to get done if we didn't get someone to do it for us. We contacted a very well known Schwimmwagen restorer named Dave Crompton. He has been restoring Schwimmwagen's and Kübelwagen's exclusively for nearly the past 30 years. I have heard nothing but great things about the man and his work. We knew we had to have him do our restoration. Me my dad and Sam loaded the Schwimmwagen in our enclosed trailer and decided to drive all the way to Michigan to drop off the car to Dave. We have been very glad we did. It took us a week to deliver the goods and return here in Canada. We left Aug 1st 2014. Once we got there Dave's place was amazing. All the restoration work is done on his farm. He has several barn looking buildings that he uses. Some store original parts and others his various collection of WWII vehicles and memorabilia including 2 Kübelwagen's a Schwimmwagen and a Tank.
